Slaves play ‘Live At Leeds’

Rather than waffle on about how great Slaves are for the third time on this blog, instead I thought I’d mention that their upcoming tour dates are selling out;  but… you can catch them at the Live at Leeds festival as part of probably the best line up the festival has ever had. You already knew this? Well I didn’t, so think of this as a public service broadcast to people like me!

And while I’m at it I’ll sneakily put the link up to the new Slaves video (which is as great as the song itself) – NSFW all you people in offices.

Tragedy – You’re The One That I Want

Possibly the only cover band I’ll ever review.  Anyone who knows song-writing won’t be surprised that Bee Gees songs sound incredible even when covered by (sorry chaps) middle-aged metallers. A no shame zone, it ranges from Ozzy-like bellows to speed-metal chaos. NSFW natch.

Mac De Marco – Passing Out Pieces

Somewhere, submerged beneath the NSFW schlock horror of this psychedelic DIY gorefest of a video is a great song.  Weirdly (to me anyway) it is almost the antithesis of the visuals – a poptastic chorus-fest with nods to Lennon, McCartney and GBV. I’m sold.

Kleine Schweine – Arkan See Clearly Now

How many bands write 2 minute thrash pop songs about Serbian war criminals? I haven’t properly researched this, but probably only Kleine Schweine, so I’m glad they do it so well – singalong chorus, out-of-control squealing guitars and Lydon’s snotty brother singing / shouting. NSFW obviously.
